Deavel Johnson
Deavel Johnson, 22, was held at Maryland Correctional Institution-Hagerstown when he died in March 2013. According to Washington County prosecutors, another man stabbed him with a homemade knife in a dormitory area as he sat on a bed playing a video game, and the wound punctured a lung so that he bled to death within minutes. His father, Frederick Sinclair, told a court that the killing turned his family's life upside down. Police called the death an apparent homicide at the time, and in 2015 prosecutors dropped accessory charges against a man accused of hiding the knife.
