DeAndre Davis
DeAndre Davis, 39, died on August 30, 2017, while held at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, Mississippi. The Mississippi Department of Corrections said he was hurt in a fight in a housing unit, and medical staff treated his wounds until paramedics arrived, but he died in the ambulance on the way to a hospital. A 2025 news report described him as stabbed to death, months after an earlier stabbing at the same prison, and his mother, Victorra Williams, said he should have been in isolation after receiving a death threat. At a later court hearing she spoke about her grief and said she did not understand how her son died, telling the court that no one deserves to die like this. The Department of Corrections said it was investigating, and the facility was placed on lockdown.
