Davon Mosley
Davon Mosley was 20 years old and the father of three children. He moved to Alaska from California with his girlfriend, Vernesia Gordon, and their children less than a year before his death. He died in April 2014 at the Anchorage Jail, where he had been denied medications he needed for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as he told Gordon during visits. A later governor-ordered review led by Dean Williams said he was held in a segregation unit, where his condition worsened, he was kept naked for days, and he received very little mental health care, and his family says he entered jail uninjured and his body was returned covered in bruises. The cause of death was given as internal bleeding from multiple intestinal ulcers, and the family's lawsuit against the state was settled for $625,000 in 2015.
