David Vander Meer
David Vander Meer, 49, was a former youth pastor who also worked as a school counselor and at a yoga studio in Summerlin. He was held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, and police said he was taken to University Medical Center on June 24 with self-inflicted injuries and was pronounced dead early on June 25. A former church pastor, Barry Diamond, said Vander Meer's family are good people who are hurting too. Accounts differ on whether he died inside the jail or at the hospital.
