David Rodriguez, 30, was held at the Merced County Sheriff's Office, where he worked in the jail. On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, around midday, he was found unconscious on the ground in the sheriff's office parking lot in Merced, and he was pronounced dead. The Merced County Sheriff's Office said its Investigations Bureau is investigating the death. The sheriff's office has not stated a cause of death.
