David O'Quin earned an M.F.A. from UCLA, liked working on his art, and walked his dog, Bogie. He died while held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A 2018 report lists him among twenty-five men who died at that jail between 2012 and 2016.
