David Koeppen
David Koeppen, 38, died on October 25, 2023, while held at the Snohomish County Jail in Everett, Washington. According to the sheriff's office, deputies found him unresponsive in his cell after he did not come out when others were released for lunch. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office determined he died of acute fentanyl intoxication and classified the death as an accident. The sheriff's office said it would investigate the death as a possible controlled substance homicide, and said a later review found no fault by the jail. That review recommended new monitoring, cell searches and a police dog to detect drugs.
