David Egner
David Egner, 31, of Toms River, is survived by his young daughter, according to his obituary. On April 17, 2022, he was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell at the Monmouth County jail and was pronounced dead later that day at a nearby hospital. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says he died of heroin and fentanyl poisoning. Prosecutors say another person held at the jail smuggled the drugs in and gave them to him, a claim that man's attorney denies, saying Egner took them from his own counter.
