Died in jail or a lockup
Dave Lee
Dave Lee was held in the Madison County jail in Jefferson, Texas, in January 1914. Fifteen masked men took him from the jail and hanged him from a bridge, according to the Manchester Democrat. A Mountain Advocate account says the men broke into the jail to reach him. One report says the men took him from the jail; the other says they broke in, and neither says whether jail officers resisted, gave up the keys or handed him over.
