Darryl J. Swanier, 58, became ill while held at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman in May 2020 and was taken to Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, where he died. The Mississippi Department of Corrections said he had been in the prison hospital for several days before being transferred. The department said an autopsy would be done and that no foul play was suspected.
