Darryl Beasley
Darryl E. "DB" Beasley, 26, died on June 19, 2010, while held at the Petersburg City Jail in the City of Petersburg, Virginia. His sister, Larita Beasley, said he loved life too much to do anything like that, and disputes the account of how he died. Deputies brought him to the ground after he ran from a strip search room during processing. The medical examiner listed the death as an accident from aspiration of a plastic bag found in his throat, while the sheriff's office said deputies followed proper procedures. The family disputes that account and planned a wrongful death lawsuit against several deputies.
Cause of death, as reported: Died in an accident (disputed). The medical examiner ruled it an accident from a plastic bag lodged in his throat, while the family disputes that account and plans a wrongful death lawsuit against the deputies, and a news report cites restraint.
