Darrin John Tiessen
Darrin John Tiessen, 35, was held at the St. Louis County Jail in Duluth, Minnesota. His family's obituary says he was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, loved the outdoors and spending time with loved ones, and had four children. According to the sheriff's office, a correctional officer found him unresponsive in his cell on January 27, 2026, and he was taken to Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital, where he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on January 30. The sheriff's office has not released a suspected cause of death and asked the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to conduct an independent investigation.
