Darion Carter, 20, was held in a work release program in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. On a Friday afternoon in May 2012, he went swimming in a pond, reportedly without a life jacket, and drowned. Sources said he may not have known how to swim. An official autopsy was scheduled at the Louisiana Forensic Center in Youngsville, and the official cause and manner of death had not yet been established.
