Danny Paul Bible
Danny Bible, 66, was executed by lethal injection at the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville, Texas, on June 27, 2018, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He used a wheelchair and had Parkinson's disease and heart and lung conditions, and his lawyers argued that these, along with his deteriorating veins, made the procedure likely to fail and cause unconstitutional pain, proposing a firing squad or nitrogen gas instead. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last appeal about an hour before the execution. Witnesses said he muttered that the drug was burning and hurt before he became still. State officials said he was injected at 6:17 p.m. and pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. His lawyers argued that his Parkinson's disease and deteriorating veins made the lethal injection likely to be botched and cause unconstitutional pain, and proposed firing squad or nitrogen gas instead.
Reported by: Texas Department of Criminal Justice (the agency that held him); witnesses to the execution.
