Daniel Wilson

39 years old · died June 3, 2009 · Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, Scioto County, Ohio

Daniel Wilson was executed by lethal injection at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville on June 3, 2009, and was pronounced dead at 10:33 a.m. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction said the process had no problems. Before the drugs were given, he apologized to the family of the woman he had killed and said he hoped his death would bring them peace. On his last night he spoke by phone with his mother, other family and friends, and that morning he met with his spiritual adviser, his attorney and a cousin. His attorneys had sought to stop the execution, citing a difficult childhood, and an NBC News account reports that Wilson was baptized a Roman Catholic the week before his death.

Reported by: Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (the agency that held him); his attorneys.
