Daniel Pope, 35, died while held in pretrial custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina. The State, a Columbia newspaper, named him in a July 2024 column listing 23 people who died at the jail or after being taken from it to a hospital over about ten years. The column does not describe how or when he died.
