Daniel Neal, 41, died on May 26, 2025, while held at the Shelby County jail at 201 Poplar in Memphis, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. An autopsy was under way in the days after his death. The sheriff's office later said the autopsy classified his death as a suicide. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances of his death at the request of the Shelby County District Attorney.
