Daniel King
Daniel King, 30, had asked New Jersey state police for an escort to retrieve property from a home in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, on July 8, 2023. During a struggle with a trooper, he was taken into custody and brought to NJSP Bridgeton Station. The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General said he had a medical episode there and became unresponsive, and he died at a hospital the next day, July 9, 2023. An autopsy found phencyclidine (PCP) in his system. In September 2024 a grand jury declined to bring criminal charges against the troopers involved.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office says he had a medical episode at the station and became unresponsive, and an autopsy found PCP in his system, but no manner of death has been reported.
