Daniel J. Klein, III
Daniel J. Klein III, 33, was held at the Somerset County Jail in Somerset County, New Jersey. His parents, Daniel J. and Emily-Jo Klein of Clifton, sued, saying jail officials had been warned of his suicidal tendencies and did not act to prevent him from hanging himself with his shoelaces on December 13, 2012. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he died on December 20, 2012. In September 2016 the county paid $699,000 to settle the case.
