Daniel Hosmer
Daniel Hosmer, 73, died on April 22, 2026, while held at a Macomb County, Michigan, facility; reports differ on whether it was the Macomb Correctional Facility in Lenox Township, a state prison, or the Macomb County Correctional Facility in New Haven. The Michigan Department of Corrections said staff tried lifesaving measures, and it said the death is being investigated as a homicide by Michigan State Police. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said prosecutors allege a cellmate strangled Hosmer and stabbed him in the eyes, and that the accused has been arraigned on first-degree murder charges and is presumed innocent. A tipster told WXYZ-TV that Hosmer was stabbed in the eye with a broom handle, a claim officials have not confirmed.
