Dan Malone

Dan Malone, a 22-year-old Black man, was being brought into Covington, Georgia, in July 1889 under the control of officers when about sixty masked men seized him and hanged him, according to a Georgia dispatch printed in the Indiana State Sentinel. The Wichita Eagle reported that the mob took him from the officers near Covington on July 22. One account says he was taken from the sheriff, while another says officers were overpowered.
