Dakota Adams
Sheriff Tim Wroten described Dakota Adams, 25, as "a good kid." Adams was held at the Amite County Jail in Liberty, Mississippi. According to the report, he collapsed while working at a waste transfer station and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for dehydration. The report said he was then returned to a cell next to the jailer's office for observation, and he was found dead the next morning. As of Tuesday the cause of death had not been determined; an autopsy was planned, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent inquiry.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (neglect alleged). Sheriff Tim Wroten said the cause of death was pending an autopsy, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent inquiry; the account notes Adams was treated for dehydration at a hospital and returned to a cell for observation before being found dead the next morning, but no source has said this failure of care caused the death.
Reported by: Sheriff Tim Wroten (the agency that held him); Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (outside investigators).
