Daelan LaMere
Daelan LaMere was 22 years old. His wife, Maya LaMere, described him as the best man she had ever known, and said he loved his family and wanted to come home and start a family. Staff at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution found him unresponsive and struggling to breathe in his cell in late May 2017, and he died at a hospital in Lincoln. Corrections officials said drugs were found in his system, but the official cause of death has not been determined. His wife said the drug finding surprised her, because he had been adamant about not taking drugs.
