Crystal R. Greenler
Crystal R. Greenler died in custody at the Pacific County Jail on December 13, 2022. A June 2023 report by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office examined jail policies and health care issues connected to the death, but it was prepared by one person rather than the state-mandated in-custody death review panel. The county settled a wrongful death lawsuit over Crystal's death in October 2024 for $2.95 million. As of August 2025, the Chinook Observer reported, the required review panel had still not been completed.
