Crandal Lee Smith
Crandal Smith, 59, died at the Mason County Jail in Ludington, Michigan, on October 11, 2022. The Mason County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in his cell during a cell check and meal service, and that he was pronounced dead after Life EMS and the Ludington Fire Department responded. In an early statement, the sheriff's office said a preliminary investigation found no foul play or intentional or self-inflicted actions, with the final autopsy still pending. Later, the sheriff said autopsy and toxicology reports found no illegal substances and classified the death as natural causes due to cardiac arrest.
