Cortney Hartley
Cortney Hartley, 35, of Boonville, died in September 2025 after being taken from the Vanderburgh County Jail to Deaconess Midtown Hospital, where they were placed on life support. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office and the county coroner said Hartley had tied an improvised ligature around their neck, a cause that remains pending. Jail officers and medical staff attempted CPR and used an AED before the transfer, according to the sheriff's office. The Indiana State Police are leading an investigation with the coroner's office, and an autopsy was scheduled.
