Corey Perrine
Corey Perrine, 30, was found dead in his cell at the Kershaw County Detention Center late on January 11, 2024, the night before closing arguments were to begin in a trial he had been attending at the Kershaw County Courthouse. Witnesses told his attorney that he was in good spirits that Thursday night and believed things were going well for him. The Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office announced the death the next day, and the State Law Enforcement Division is investigating. The coroner's autopsy was done, but the cause and manner of death, including toxicology results, had not been determined as of the reports.
