Collin Daugherty
Collin Daugherty, 42, died on March 31, 2022, at the Sioux Falls Community Work Center, a work-release facility run by the South Dakota Department of Corrections. His brother Kyler, who lives in California, said Collin had a mental disability, medical issues and addiction, and that prison was not the place for him to get the help he needed. The department released little information and listed no cause of death, and an autopsy was performed with toxicology results still pending. Two other people reportedly had overdose symptoms the same night, and another person held there said the substance involved was K2, which investigators had not confirmed.
