Cody Keith Jones
Cody Keith Jones grew up mostly in the Fall River Mills area, where he worked as a timber faller in the logging industry, loved the outdoors, hunting and time in the forest, and was a calf roper at Fall River High School. His mother called him the most giving, unselfish person she had known, and said he helped support her through the 2008 financial crisis. He was hospitalized after an incident in the Shasta County Jail on April 14, 2021, and died on April 19, 2021. Capt. Gene Randall of the Shasta County Sheriff's Office said the death was under investigation and that foul play was not suspected, and a 2026 report says the Shasta County coroner ruled it a suicide. His mother doubts he would have harmed himself, and the family, who struggled to get information about him and access to him, suspects correctional officers may have been involved.
