Cody Cousins
Cody Cousins, 24, was a Springboro High School graduate who worked as a teaching assistant in Purdue University's electrical engineering program, and friends from Purdue remember him as someone they welcomed into their homes. He was held at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Indiana, where the Indiana Department of Correction said he was found unresponsive in his cell on a Tuesday night in October 2014 with self-inflicted wounds and was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later. Prison officials and the LaPorte County coroner said the death was an apparent suicide, with the coroner citing a safety razor issued by the prison. His attorney said he had struggled with serious mental illness, and the department's internal affairs office and the coroner's office were investigating.
