Cody Catanzarite, 37, died of an overdose in July 2023 at a hospital, within hours of being taken there for medical clearance before he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. The county coroner listed the cause of death as acute fentanyl and methamphetamine intoxication. According to a lawsuit, the hospital cleared him and gave him a prescription for Narcan.
