Clifton Majors
Clifton Majors was held at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl, Rankin County, when he was killed over a weekend in early September 2013. His mother, Brenda Moreno, says he never posed a threat to anyone. His family says a gang targeted him as a hit and that he should have been in protective custody after witnessing a murder at another prison. The Mississippi Department of Corrections says another man held at the facility reportedly admitted beating Majors and told investigators he feared Majors and others would harm him. The case was referred to the Rankin County District Attorney's office.
