Clifton Harris
Clifton Harris, a 61-year-old cancer patient, was held at the Sacramento County jail in June 2017, when court filings and his family say a cellmate badly beat him. His family says he had warned jail officials about that cellmate beforehand. He died about eight months later, after his family removed him from life support. The sheriff's office did not report his death to the state, saying he had been released from custody by court paperwork before he died.
