Chuniece Patterson
Chuniece Patterson, 21, was held at the Onondaga County Justice Center in Syracuse, New York, in November 2009. Solitary Watch reported that she spent about 14 hours in her cell moaning, screaming and lying on the floor in pain before she was found unresponsive. The New York State Commission of Correction found that adequate medical care would have prevented her death from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, and it classified the death as medical neglect.
