Christy White
Christy Elizabeth White, 52, died at the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage, North Carolina, on September 10, 2026. According to the Moore County Sheriff's Office, she had made a sick call reporting difficulty breathing, and staff found her unresponsive on her bed at about 3 a.m., about 13 hours after she was processed into the jail. Staff and county EMS tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and its findings are not yet known. The sheriff's release offered condolences to her family and loved ones.
