Christopher Fojt
Christopher Fojt, 30, was known to friends as Fo8, and his obituary remembers him as someone who gave when he had little and could make people laugh until they could hardly breathe. He grew up in Baltimore, moved to Arlington after high school, and lived in Reston with his fiancé, their dog and two cats. He was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center from April 21, 2021, and was found unresponsive in his cell the next day, then taken to a hospital, where he was kept in a medically induced coma until he died on April 27. The Fairfax County Police Department said there were no signs of foul play, and the medical examiner's autopsy is pending, with the cause of his brain injury still unclear. A person close to him said he had struggled with depression and questioned whether staff responded to a suicide risk, and a hospital record refers to suicidal ideation.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (neglect alleged). Police said there were no signs of foul play while the medical examiner performs an autopsy, and a person close to Fojt questions whether staff responded to a suicide risk after he struggled with depression.
