Christian Marte-Martinez
Christian Marte-Martinez, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, died on April 29, 2023. He had been placed in a cell at Lawrence Police Department headquarters early that Saturday morning, and officers found him unresponsive around 5 a.m. He was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said a man held in the same cell has been charged with distributing drugs to him, and police chief Michael McCarthy said the manner of death remains under investigation by state police detectives and Lawrence police.
