Christian Bridges, 29, died at Harnett Correctional Institution in Lillington, North Carolina, after he was assaulted by another person held at the prison in a dormitory on the night of Friday, August 28, 2026. Police said he was hurt shortly before 11 p.m. and died on the way to a hospital shortly after midnight. Prison officials and the Lillington Police Department said he was stabbed, while other accounts describe only an assault, and state officials have not publicly described how he was killed. Police have charged another person with first-degree murder, and the Lillington Police Department, the State Bureau of Investigation and the state corrections department are still investigating.
