Cherry Nichols
Cherry Nichols was an 18-year-old Black man. The Claiborne Guardian reported in May 1881, citing word it had received, that he was taken from the jail at Sparta, Louisiana, and hanged by a mob. The paper said he had been taken to Sparta after an arrest in Homer, and that the mob killed him after taking him from the jail.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Claiborne Guardian reported, citing word it received, that Cherry Nichols was taken from the jail and hanged.
