Charles Williams

Chas. Williams, of Highland Home, South Carolina, was shot to death by a group of masked men, the Mineral Point Tribune reported in July 1885. The paper said the killing happened while he was being taken to jail. The report gives no further account of the circumstances of his death. He is remembered here by the record of that report.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A brief news item reports that masked men shot him to death while he was being taken to jail.
