Charles Phillip Hatton
Charles Phillip Hatton, 71, was a former employee of Kountze ISD. He was found in medical distress in his cell at the Gib Lewis Unit prison in Woodville, Texas, on May 1, 2026, and staff started lifesaving measures before he was taken to Tyler County Hospital, where he died. The Attorney General's office custodial death report lists the manner and cause of death as unknown. An autopsy has been ordered.
