Charles Lee Smoot
Charles Lee Smoot, 54, died on January 6, 2025, at the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was held. The Federal Bureau of Prisons said he had been assaulted and that EMS pronounced him dead after staff had begun life-saving measures. The FBI was notified of the death. Who assaulted him is not identified in the bureau's release.
