Charles Large

Charles Large was hanged in the jail yard at Lake Charles, Louisiana, on September 5, 1891, according to the Cleveland Gazette. The first attempt failed when the rope broke and he fell to the ground unconscious. He was taken back to the gallows, the rope was spliced, and the second attempt carried out the sentence.
