Charles Jeffries
Charles Jeffries died on January 15, 2026, after being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center in Cherokee County, North Carolina. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, he reported abdominal discomfort overnight, was monitored by the jail nurse, and was taken to Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy, where he died. The sheriff's office has not released a cause of death. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Division of Health Service Regulation are investigating his death.
