Charles Harvey
Charles Harvey, of Petersburg, Indiana, was being held in the jail there. According to a dispatch datelined Evansville and printed in several newspapers in late December 1883, a mob took him from the jail in the early hours of Sunday, December 23, and hanged him from a tree. He died at the hands of the mob, which the report describes as a lynching from the Petersburg jail.
