Executed
Charles H. Thiede
Charles H. Thiede was hanged in Salt Lake City on Friday, August 7, 1896. His relatives buried his body that afternoon in the cemetery at Sandy, a small town south of Salt Lake. Residents objected strongly, held a mass meeting, and threatened to exhume the remains. Under that pressure, his relatives, who had been guarding the grave, agreed to have the body moved to a field next to the cemetery.
