Chance Ross
Chance Ross, 34, died after being booked into the Hopkins County jail in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and placed in a padded cell. His brother Chad says jail video showed Chance handcuffed and not resisting, and that he heard him screaming for help before the screaming stopped. Chad believes repeated stun gun use after Chance was in custody caused his death, and says the family was told cardiac arrest and brain damage from lack of oxygen were the cause. The family says Chance had a history of mental illness and substance abuse but no heart problems, and has not seen the autopsy; the Texas Rangers are investigating.
