Chaka Stewart
Chaka Stewart, 40, died in May 2021 while held in the Clayton County Jail in Georgia. Officers found him unresponsive in his cell, and he was pronounced dead at the jail, with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation handling the investigation and an autopsy underway. Police said he was alone and that no foul play was suspected. His mother, Jacqueline Gordon, said he had called her before his death saying guards were beating him and that he was kept in his cell for 23 hours a day, and she was told his death was a suicide, which she does not believe. She wants a full investigation, and the Clayton County Sheriff's Office has requested a GBI probe.
