Chad Lake Raymond
Chad Lake Raymond died in 2021 while held at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, a state prison, of endocarditis, an infection of the heart's valves. His sister, Britney Jones, says he reported severe chest and lung pain and that staff did not observe him or review his test results in time, and she sued Wellpath, the company that provided medical care at the prison, for medical negligence and wrongful death. According to news reports, that case stalled when Wellpath declared bankruptcy. In October 2025 Jones filed a second suit against state officials over whether the state enforced Wellpath's insurance requirements. Jones has pursued legal action over his death for years.
