Cecil Vivian, 62, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility, a CoreCivic-run prison in Mississippi where Vermont holds some of its state prisoners. Vermont Department of Corrections spokesperson Rachel Feldman said he was found unresponsive that Saturday evening and was pronounced dead that night. Feldman said the death was not considered suspicious, but that the cause had not been determined. The state said it planned administrative, medical and independent reviews of the death.
